Billboard Music Awards 2019
The 2019 Billboard Music Awards were broadcast live from the MGM Grand in Las Vegas on the 1st of May. The ceremony was hosted by Kelly Clarkson including performances by BTS, Halsey, Taylor Swift, the Jonas Brother’s and the recipient of this year’s Icon Award – Mariah Carey.
Highlights of the night included Drake surpassing Taylor Swift – he now has a total of twenty-seven awards, making him the most awarded artist in Billboard history. Cardi B won a total of six awards while BTS became the first K-Pop act to win in the top duo/group category. Ariana Grande won top female artist along with a Billboard chart achievement award. Ella Mai won three awards, including top R&B artist. She is the third woman to win in that category. The first two were Rihanna and Beyoncé.
In true Billboard style, artists made a statement on the red carpet. Sequined dresses, statement pieces and textured suits were definitely trending on the carpet. Below are some of our favorite looks and spring trends that stole the show.
